You are refering to the pushrods, corrrect?

correct - i changed the head gasket and must have mixed up the rods --- now engine knocks

The Intake push rods are just a bit longer than the exaust pueh rods,,,so if they get mixed up,,,,well,,,,it will knock,rock, rattle and roll,,,,,,,,,

 

Just make sure the intake rods are the longer ones,,,and if ya need anything else, just hit me up.

the only thing I could find is that it looks like the outer valves are intakes,it just says keep the push rods in order,here are 2 pictures,it doesnt help with the middle cylinder,It may be hard to explain,how to identify which is an intake or exhaust with out being there.

The intake pushrods are identified with yellow stripes. The intake pushrods are 14.6 cm (5.75 inch) long.
The exhaust pushrods are identified with green stripes. The exhaust pushrods are 15.24 cm (6 inch) long.
