1996 BUICK Riviera: kms..jerking..doesnt happen every time I drive

Resolved Question:

1996 BUICK Riviera 235000 kms has a continual jerking motion on acceleration and if you back off the accelerator slightly the car will pick up speed gradually but not with acceleration to pass a car quickly. This doesn''t happen every time I drive but recently becomes much more prevellent.

HelloCustomer does the check engine light come on when this happens?

1 No the engine light does not come on
2.when driving and you want to accelerate and you tramp on the accelerator the car would stall I beleive if you did not back off on the gss.
3.When I think about it the car did something like jerk earlier when you were driving about 80 kms. per jhour and turned on the high beams. It seemed like the car gave a slight jerk at that time, and still does.
4. car starts easily at any time.

6.have not had any work done by any service persion during this problem time.

Okay. It really sounds like you may just have a clogged fuel filter. This can starve the engine of fuel during acceleration. Has this been changed recently?
