The first thing to have checked is the condition of your belts. If they are loose or worn then can cause this problem. You can look yourself to see if there is any cracks, frayed edges, etc.
This would not take too long for a good repair shop to diagnose as well. You could have a problem with one of your pulley bearing as well, but I would check the belt(s) first.
