Ford focus: 1.8 td..gears..power kicks in, then it settles down

Resolved Question:

I have a Ford Focus 1.8 td, i have just noticed a problem that once i change into gears 3,4 & 5 if i got to floor it the refs go sky high before the power kick''s in, then it settles down.

This problem is probably going to get worse. The clutch is wearing out causing the high rev and slip. It will probably start doing this in 1 and 2 gears soon. Also another symptom could be a plugged fuel filter running the engine lean under load not producing the power needed. Hope this helps. Let me know.
