where is the crank shaft sensor located on a 2001 olds intrigue with a 3.5L twin cam engine

Your Crankshaft Position Sensor is located just above the Starter.

You have to disconnect the Battery and remove the Starter to access the Sensor.

Then it's just a matter of unplugging the connector, removing the bolt, and pulling the sensor out.

Anytime this sensor is replaced, it is recommend that a "Crankshaft Position Relearn" procedure be followed. This requires the use of a compatible Scan Tool.
