Ask a Car Mechanic and Get Answers to Your Car Questions ASAP
Unfortunately, there is no definite answer to this question.
For resale value, yes, definitely. High mile vehicles drop dramatically in resale value, you can look and see how miles affect the resale value of your vehicle at www.nada.com or www.kbb.com
Mechanically, it all depends on how this vehicle was treated during those miles. Regular maintenance and extended highway driving as opposed to city stop-and-go driving will significantly increase the mileage expectation of any vehicle.
If you have doubts or concerns, a compression test will give you an idea of your engines mechanical health.
(I have worked on Chevy Cavalier and Ford Escort fleet vehicles with over 300,000 miles on them!)
