84 buick lesabre: temp gauge.So now the eng light comes..bypass

I have a 84 buick lesabre. I put in a temp gauge.So now the eng light comes on after a few min.I check the code. It tells me low reading,high reading.How do i bypass that sensor

Hi Micheal,There are 2 different senders on that engine,one is for the computer control system,the other was for the temp light. I am sending a wiring diagram so you can see the 2 switches.In the diagram the switch on the left has 2 wires a yellow and a black,that switch needs to be in the system,it is used by the computer,the other switch has one dark green wire that is the one you want to use for your gage.Here is the diagram
