1997 Pontiac Grand Am   Dash indicator lights right side lower right corner looks like a battery with fluid lines at bottom with an arrow pointing upward remains lit. What does this mean.

It sounds like you are descibing the low coolant indicator. Although the arrow should be pointing down. Does it look like the picture below?

Yep. That's it. However, we did bring the Dexcool up to the level it should be at. Also added windshield solvent and brought the oil up to the proper level also. I wonder if I have a bad sensor.

You could have a faulty sensor. The Dexcool gets brown and gummy, this makes the sensor not work correctly. Try tapping the overflow tank with a rubber hammer or a piece of wood.
