Pontiac Transport 91 ignition delay is 2 seconds or won t startOptional Information: 1991 Pontiac Transport 3.1 lAlready Tried: Nothing, trying to help clueless mechanic who wants to change alternator
Greetings!
I'm not entirely sure what your question is...
what do you mean by the term "ignition delay", and how does this relate to changing the alternator? Any further information or description of the problem you can provide here might be helpful...
Reply to Steve7654's Post: Oh gee thanks. I meant : monday after 50 minutes of 120 kph highway driving I stopped at a store to get a few beers and then it would not start. As I turned the key to start, radio and fan off as usuall but no noise from starter . I left it in front of store in snow bank. Tuesday it started fine maybe 15 times. Today, wednesday, I had to turn the key twice and/or hold the key in start position for 2-3 seconds before the starter received the juice and started the car normally. morning, lunch break and 3 pm. ? battery, started, alternator, ignition switch ? Usually it starts great, exept in damp weather I need to give it gas from the gas pedal. Sorry I speak mostly french.
Change your starter relay and make sure all of your connections to batt. starter and relay are good and not corroded.

Ok thanks I 'll have the mechanic do that tomorrow morning. Happy new one.
