1989 Jeep Comanche, wont start... will start when you push start it, wont start with a jump or the key. replaced fuel pump already
Probably a bad starter if it wont crank. Verify you have battery power to the two starter wires. The larger one will have power with the key on, the smaller one will have battery power when cranking the engine. If you have both, the starter is bad, it can be verified once removed and tested at a local parts store.
Reply to Gene's Post: It does crank, it just wont start with the key. It will start when you push start it and dump the clutch.
You will need to verify if you are loosing fuel or spark or both when you crank it and no start. These jeeps used to have problems with the crankshaft sensor on the bellhousing on top of the trans. Try wiggling the wiring going to it and see if it starts up.
