There can be 2 possible faults here:
(1) The lighter socket may have been damaged or become worn, not allowing the lighter element or your accessory electrical plugs to make good contact inside. If this is the case, you can buy replacement sockets at most auto parts stores for less than $10 and they come with instructions and are very easy to change.
(2) You may have blown a fuse that protects the lighter circuit by plugging in too large of an electrical load. Check in your fuse block for any blown fuses.
