Customer Question

No one has answer my question yet, I guess this is difficult for you guys or girls. Ok, more detail, is it the actuator? Is it some thing in the door itself?

The most likely cause of the problem here is a failed drivers door lock actuator. I have searched a couple repair databases, and found several other instances where people have experienced exactly the same symptoms as yours. In every case, the lock actuator was found to be the source of the problem.

Here are some excerpts:

This vehicle has automatic door locks that lock all doors when
key is turn on and unlocks when key is turned to off position.
The problem is the doors keep trying to lock while you are
driving, that is the locks keep clicking down for 2 to 3
minutes steady and then stop on their own. All the doors lock
properly it just keeps doing it over and over.

Fix: We received many replys to our problem, 35 overnight, and
almost all of you said replace the drivers door lock accuator.
I did just that and the problem is solved. Thanks

Here is a similiar problem on a Honda Odyssey van, with the same design locks:

A friend/customer has a problem with her power door locks on
her van. She is bringing it in later in the week for us to
check out, but I thought I'd check to see if any of the 'Honda
Gurus' had seen this before. What happens is after she locks
the vehicle , the door lock actuators(she says all of them do
this) start trying to actuate and will continue to do so as
long as the vehicle is left locked. They have never unlocked
the vehicle. They just keep cycling and making the 'clunk'
noise. This problem occurs about 80% of the time she locks it
and under no special circumstances

Fix: thank you for the replies of door actuator. replaced part and
vehicle repaired.

Here is a similiar problem, also corrected by locak actuator replacement:

Car into shop for power door locks actuating up and down for
about 30 seconds at times. Any help will be appreciated.

Fix: Replaced lock actuator in lt door and this corrected problem.

So, based on similiar problems others have experienced with this problem on the same make and model year, I would suspect that the lock actuator is the source of your problem. If this is helpful, clicking my accept button would be most appreciated! thanks, XXXXX XXXXX luck!
