Yes you do. If there is a whole in the exhaust you should of noticed a change in sound (assuming the whole wasn't there when you aquired the car). A whole creates a very serious safety/health hazard as exhaust gases can enter the living space of the cabin.
A crack in the fan belt is a sign that it's overdue for a new belt. If the belt breaks it can strand you and cause engine damage.
