STOP...........
You cannot "match wires" of the Pioneer & the Factory wires..........
You risk the chance of shorting the Unit or damage to your Ford
Did you cut the Factory Plugs off of the Ford Harness?

Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 6 months ago.

hello?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
no
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
i didn't cut anything other than stripping the wires. it seems the speaker wires match. do you have a wiring diagram?
Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 6 months ago.

thanks for the reply.............
Is your Sport Trac a XLS or XLT?
Do you have the Factory Amplified System?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
its factory amplified. its a 2003 ford explorer sporttrac 2wd 4 door cab. Im not sure if its xls or xlt. thats what it says in the truck door. Not my car and the owner is out of area for me to ask
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
i don't believe the stereo has ever been touched. so i think its all factory
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
still there?
Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 6 months ago.

Thank you
You should use a Wiring Adapter like the METRA 70-1771 (non amplified) or 70-5519 (amplified), which makes the Install simple & foolproof.
It is color for color wiring & Plugs into the Factory Plugs.
IF you have to "hard wire", it is going to depend on IF the vehicle is Amplified or not
Here is Ford Factory Plug Diagrams with Color Chart
I do not recommend "hard wiring", but it can be done
Just be sure you wire the "correct wires" from the Pioneer to the Ford wires
They DO NOT match color for color on the Pioneer

Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 6 months ago.

white, purple, grey, green and white/black , purple/black, grey/black, green/black to the correct Ford colors on the Plugs as I posted?
what is the problem?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I got those I have two black, yellow, red on each side and an orange on one and orange and white on the other. How do I connect those? Im kinda hesitant because I don't want to damage any electronics.

.

Are you referring to the Ford Plugs?

.

Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 6 months ago.

Are you using a Wiring Adapter, as the wire colors you just posted refers to a Wiring Adapter colors???

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
the harness that came with the stereo. the stereo harness has that white/orange. They both have the rest. can i send you a picture? maybe that will help.
Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 6 months ago.

that would be great.....as I thought you were NOT using a Wiring Adapter
You can post a picture by using the "paper clip" in tool bar

Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 6 months ago.

IF you are using a Wiring Adapter......The ORANGE & ORANGE / WHITE is NOT used...tape them off
BLACK is Ground - & I usually connect together to the BLACK wire on the New Radio

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
since this picture, i reaped the two orange and attached the 2 black. should the red and yellow be switched?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
retaped
Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 6 months ago.

colors will all match
RED to RED
YELLOW to YELLOW
BLACK TO BLACK
WHITE to WHITE
WHITE / BLACK to WHITE / BLACK

etc.
Your picture looks good, just the RED, YELLOW & BLACK need to be connected
IF you get NO sound, then you may need a different Wiring Adapter
Let me know what happens

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
