When your VW was produced, VW had no idea that IPOD would go beyond the phones that were introduced past 2 years, because VW has to pay for that info to make their Electronics work.
You don't just need a cord, you will also need a adapter also

I hsve the radio in the first picture. Can you just tell me what parts to get and where to get them
Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 3 months ago.

I posted "2" different sites to obtain what you need.
I cannot tell you "exactly" what you need without having the Phone in my hands & calling the company myself, as it depends on the Phone & Radio
IF you know which Radio, you need to contact the one that shows your radio

It isn't a phone it is a Ipod gen 6. When you plug it into the arm rest it does play through the radio. I just want to know where I can get a cord that would work.

Hi there and welcome

First I want to see if the cable has indeed faulted.

When you connect the iPod are you switching the input on the Stereo to the input the iPod is connected to?

Please let me know

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
You hit yhe cd button on the radio and it will plsy. With the female;msle 30 pt cable it won't play
Expert:  Richard replied 3 months ago.

Sorry I did not understand that last message..

Your saying the iPod plays when the CD inpput is selected?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
You plug the Ipod in and press the CD button it will play. It doesn't show the songs or anything like that The 2 arrows on the side lets you advance or reverse the songs
Expert:  Richard replied 3 months ago.

And you are saying it is not working when doing this?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
The Ipod works when you do thi. What I tried before was a standard male/female 30 bit cord but that didn't work. It is a real stuggle to get the small 1.5 in square Ipod in the armrest. I am looking for some type of cord that would work
Expert:  Richard replied 3 months ago.

No, its only going to work with the iPod cable, its a propriety cord.

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
where do I get one and what does it look like
Expert:  Richard replied 3 months ago.

It is a lightning cable, this is the cable the iPod uses

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
no that is not it I have a 6th generation ipod nano it either plugs into a 30 bit or a pin hole It is not a phone
Expert:  Richard replied 3 months ago.

ok, the 6th generation uses it, but the Nano is different to the standard 6th generation, you need the 30 pin cable, which you get here

http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MA591G/C/apple-30-pin-to-usb-cable

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Ok I am mistaken it is not a namo it is smaller But I think I found a 30 to 10 pin adapter for it ( I am order so many cables and do dads i should of just replaced the radio)
Expert:  Richard replied 3 months ago.

sounds like it!

I think you mean the iPod Shuffle? Thats the one smaller.

But then this is the cable

http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MC003AM/A/apple-ipod-shuffle-usb-cable

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
It is an Ipod 6 it is not a shuffle, That cable is a usb that is not wide enough The connection in the armrest is 30pts
Expert:  Richard replied 3 months ago.

yes, a 30 pin cable for the iPod 6, that's the cable I first provided.

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
The lightening to USB cable? It uis not going into a computer it is going into a Jetta which is a car it bhas a male 30point prong there in the armrest How many toimes do i have to repeat myself
Expert:  Richard replied 3 months ago.

ok, so what actual cable do you want then? As this has not been clear

Customer: replied 3 months ago.

"I have a 2009 Jetta with a ipod/iphone connection in the armrest. I also have a 6th generation Ipod ( the small square one) I have tried one cord but it didn't work. Any suggestions?"

But it does work as you replied

You hit yhe cd button on the radio and it will plsy. With the female;msle 30 pt cable it won't play

And when I asked you to clarify you said

You plug the Ipod in and press the CD button it will play

But it is no problem, I am going to opt out of working with you further on this as you may be better suited to another expert.

Thank you and all the best.
