,hello carl, my name is XXXXX XXXXX new to this site, also new to using a computer. the radio system is a vw gamma built in dashboard. with 6cds loaded it shows playing cd 1etc for a few seconds until all 6cds have gone through with no sound. sometimes shows check magazine. the magazine is behind dash. ps. i am a novice with cars. but would love some help.
Hey Nick,
The check magazine means that the player cannot read the disk correctly and thinks the disk is faulty and moves to the next one. 95% of the time this is due to the laser reader gone faulty or is dirty. When this happens, the radio has to be replaced or a laser cleaner will need to be purchased and ran. The cleaner is very cheap and worth a go. You can get them practically anywhere that sells electronics. I know you didn't want to hear that, but I've done the wild goose chase act for you in the past with this problem.
Let me know how the cleaning goes or if I can be of anymore help with this.
Thanks,
XXXXX XXXXXndsey
,hi,carl. i have already tried a cleaner tape, still no joy. my son borrowed my car for a few days, and has now told me that he used a lead on a cassette tape,to use his mobile phone. would that cause a fuse to blow. yours, nick.
I know what he's talking about and no that wont cause a problem. That's what that is suppose to be used for. This is generally a wear and tear problem.
At this point, the radio will need to be replaced. If you like, I can try and locate one for you for a lot cheaper than what you would pay for at a dealer.
,carl, thanks for your help, i will try the scrapyards. nick.
No problem. Please remember to leave a positive rating today on my performance.
