you will have to take the covers off and see if a cd is jammed and locking up the unit.some times plugging and unplugging the power harness will reset the unit and it may eject.

As I said I've already removed the cd player. So plugginmg and unplugging didn't reset the unit. If I, take the unit apart can I damage the player more.

taking it apart will not fix it.this is a common problem with these changers. plastic gears can crack and jam the unit.you may see a disc or maybe two that are lodged in the mechanism.you may be able to get you cds out, but usually the unit needs to be rebuilt to work properly again.

What was suggested! that,I, unplug and to replug the unit in order to reset the machine. of course I tried that first. 2nd to open the unit and remove the cartridge, that's what I want to do but without any knowledge of the cd pklayer that could be damaging to the macine.

just looking inside will not make it worse.you may see whats causing the cartdrige to jam.if you cannot tell, just put the covers back on and take it to a service center .

since, mercury is no longer produced. My problem is what service center for repair. Both lincoln and ford have no answers, for me.

,I,m basically, at this time looking to get my 6 cd's back and either repair/replace the cd unit. Either with an exact duplicate or at your suggestion a whole new am-fm cd player etc. which can somehow be installed in dash. thanks for your assistance in advance.p.s. my electronic controls have the automatic temp. and thermostat unit not the easy to find manuial unit.
