Customer Question

I am asking this question on behalf of my son. He lives in Victoria and has separated from his wife. They have 2 very young children and a large house mortgage. He has informed me that if they divorce he has to continue to pay for the mortgage and pay child support as he has always earns a great deal more than his wife. Is this true?
JA: Because family law varies from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: Victoria
JA: Have you talked to a lawyer yet?
Customer: No
JA: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not that I can think of, it's very early and we are all hoping for a reconciliation, but I still think we need to know should things not work out.
