Customer Question

An ex friend purchased me a truck. The truck is in my name. She says I now owe her for the truck! There was no verbal repayment or written repayment agreement

Hello, thank you for the question.

How much money is at stake here?

Is there literally no evidence of a debt? Not even by text or email?

What province is this in?

Why would a "friend" buy you a truck? What could the friend say about that?

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
She simply wanted to help me out! I'm pretty sure her motivation was for intimate relationship purposes which I made very clear it wasn't! She has no text or email on repayment! It was Alberta. She would say I promised to repay

Then it's a gift. If she wants to bring an action against you in court, she'll have to lie and fabricate evidence that it was a loan or in exchange for other consideration.

But it's in your name, so it's yours.

Does that make sense?
