I have a bookkeeping client who is currently separated from

Customer Question

I have a bookkeeping client who is currently separated from his wife. He is wondering what the benefits or downsides may be for both of them to making the separation legal. He is the breadwinner and supports his estranged wife. He doesn't want to cause her financial hardship but he also wants to let go of some responsibility and also help make her eligible for some government programs. Any advice? Where can I find information on what makes a person eligible for support, etc.?

Would you like for me to explain the law about spousal support?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Spousal support isn't my question. I will research the government sites to try and find what I'm looking for. Please make sure I am not billed for this. Thanks.
