I need more of the facts.

Why do you need a TRP and is this about visiting Canada for a short while?

that I can make continent trips to Canada without a visa with my son

You don't need a TRP. That is for cases where you are not otherwise admissible to Canada such as when someone has a criminal record.

What you should apply for is a multiple entry temporary resident visa (not a permit).
