People can say their opinions even if they are nasty.
But if someone lies and that harms your reputation that can be defamation.
And that would be grounds to sue someone in court if you suffer damages as a result of the defamation.
It's rarely considered to be a criminal act.
But if there are constant postings about you then it is possible that this could at some point amount to criminal harassment.
So it always depends on the facts.
If this went to court the judge would hear live testimony.
You would testify and you would cross-examine the other party.
The Judge would be able to assess credibility.
As well you may have witnesses to give evidence as well.
