Optional Information: Province/Territory relating to question: Alberta Already Tried: all day tried many lawyers but they have upfront fees which I can't pay because my employer will not allow me to return to work. I work for AB government
Hello,I am sorry to hear about this. Sometimes it can be very hard to find a suitable lawyer. The only thing that can be suggested for you is to keep looking until you find the right person. You can try lawyers other than the ones in your area.If you have not yet done so, you can try using the Alberta Law Society Referral Service. You can get a free half hour consultation with up to three lawyers this way. You can find out more information here, or you can call 1-800-661-1095 or(NNN) NNN-NNNN if you are in Calgary. You can also try checking the Yellow Pages or other directory. If you cannot afford a lawyer, you can try to see if Legal Aid Alberta can help you.Unfortunately that is all I can suggest at this time. Just keep searching and you may just find a suitable lawyer to represent you.All the best.
Thank you but I've tried the lawyers inn my area and I'm not qualified for legal aid. I will try the Alberta Law Society again but it seems that all of the lawyers want a consultation fee and after that a deposit! I really can't do that as a single mom with a son going to college.
Lawyers sometimes take matters on a pro bono basis. But it really depends on the individual lawyer. Look for lawyers outside your area as well.Your only other option is to represent yourself. This is not easy though.
Experience: Lawyer in Ontario, Canada
