If a canadin Resident is accused of a crime in another country will Canada defend this person?
Optional Information: Province/Territory relating to question: Ontario
Hello:No. The government will not defend the charge on behalf of the accused person or act on his or her behalf.
I understand that, what I meant was would the Cdn. govt. take this person back from the US and deal with the accused crime here.
In this case the penalty seems to be 50-75% lower in canada?
No, that also will not occur. The Canadian government will take no steps to try to have Canadian law applied or return a person here to substitute our justice system for that of the foreign country. A person travelling in a foreign country is entirely subject to the laws of that country.41085.0549769676
