If my house is in my name and I paid the down payment but my common law partner pays the mortgage, and this for 8 yrs, if I decide to sell do I owe him 50% of the proceeds?

Are the mortgage payments great that what he would pay for fair market value rent if he was paying you rent?

Quebec, 10 yrs together, 8 yrs in the house, no on the FMV question.

Common law spouses don't have property rights in Quebec.
And because he paid less than he would have paid you for fair market value rent he has no claim to any interest in the property based on his contributions. They were merely in lieu of rent.
