Customer Question

I work for an investment management firm in Quebec. We have a client who resides in BC who is verbally abusive towards me. This has been going on for 10 years. He is threatening to sue our firm for something that is out of our hands. Although I believe his suit is baseless, I believe my firm may throw me under the bus. The portfolio manager I work for was aware of the abuse and finally decided to fire this client on December 13, 2016. Due to the fact the client resides in BC, am I still protected against his abusive behavior under Quebec law? What are my options?
JA: Because employment law varies from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: In the province of Quebec
JA: Has anything been filed or reported?
Customer: No, not as of yet.
JA: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: No, that is it.

I am not sure what you mean when you ask if the laws protect you.

What law do you believe applies here?
