I was actually hoping to find a math teacher but here goes: Calculate

Customer Question

I was actually hoping to find a math teacher but here goes:

Calculate the crime threshold the formula

Calculate the mean average of the data set
Subtract the mean average from each data point
Square each of the differences obtained in the above step
Sum the squares from the above step
Devide the total of the squares by the number of numbers in the original data set - the number that results from this deviation is known as the varience
Find the square root of the varience to obtain the standard deviation.

The crime figure for a specific crime in Giyani is 561 as on 1 January 2007 and the corresponding crime figure on 1 January 2008 is 422

The crime figure for a specific crime in Welbekend is 121 as on 1 January 2007 and the corresponding crime figure on 1 January 2008 is 158

Formula example: %Change= N30 __N30 -N20___ X100
N20

Hi,

Thank you for using JustAnswer.

I'll be happy to help you with these calculations, and will answer any questions you may have about the procedure.

For the question about the mean/variance/standard deviation, is there a data set available? I assume that the "crime figure" data goes with the percent change forumla.

Thanks,

Ryan

There is no data set available if i had that i would not have asked the question.

It seems to read that a formula was included in the problem. Am I mistaken?

Customer replied359 days and 7 hours ago.

I have included the formula %Change= N30 __N30 -N20___ X100.

I know the percent change formula (new-old)/old, but I thought there was a formula missing from the beginning of the problem where it says "Calculate the crime threshold the formula"
Oftentimes, a student will copy and paste the problem, but the formula that follows that statement is an image that does not copy, so it is dropped. Please check that this is not the situation.
If there is a formula there, I can help, otherwise the problem cannot be solved as written.

I'm sorry there must be one somewhere I will have a look again it might be a table does Just Answer have a link to where I can upload a document or maybe I can just copy and paste

Depending on your browser, you will have a paperclip icon above the chat box. If you do, you can upload directly from there. If not, you can use sendspace.com, wikisend.com, mediafire.com or any site like that and give the link to the file. I recommend the first, if you are not familiar with how they work.

If you have a problem, go to sendspace.com and upload it there. Give me the link that it tells you to copy.

This leads me to believe that the information earlier on that page does not apply to this problem, and you are being asked for the percent change of the crime rate from one year to the next. The formula is (new-old)/old

Giyani: (422-561)/561 = -139/561 = -0.2478 = -24.78%
Welbekend: (158-121)/121 = 37/121 = 0.3058 = 30.58%
