I have a 2007 DTS that was making a power steering pump

Customer Question

I have a 2007 DTS that was making a power steering pump wineing noise so I replaced the pump with a new one. The brand new pump wined the same as the old one instantly. I never had any loss of steering. Now a month later I am losing steering. The wining never stopped.
JA: When was the fluid last checked? Have you heard any whining noises while turning the wheel?
Customer: I kept it full of fluid. Noise seemed while turning wheel and with engine rev. When I checked it yesterday it was a little low and seemed there was a little pressure in the system
JA: Are you fixing your DTS yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes .Just replaced the pump with a new one a month age
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

Hi. Have you checked for the source of the leak? The steering gear is known for leaking and causing lack of assist.

Possably . I will check but why was a brand new pump full of fluid still wining

If the steering gear is not allowing the fluid to flow through it correctly the pump will whine when too much back pressure exists.
