how do you remove the back pivot bolt on the power steering pump on a 2004 Cadillac cts?
JA: When was the fluid last checked? Have you heard any whining noises while turning the wheel?
Customer: Yes, whining, grinding. fluid was replaced but no improvement
JA: What is the make/model of your car?
Customer: 2004 Cadillac cts
JA: Are you fixing your CTS yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes, I am trying to replace the pump. I have the bolts in front and hoses disconnected but can not get to the back pivot bolt
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Ok, I have the instructions but as you know they won't explain how to get to hard to reach bolts.

can you get an box or open wrench on the bolt head?

I can barely get an open claw wrench (13mm) to the back pivot bolt..... even if i get it to move, it doesnt look like it has the room to be backed out.

Try it anyhow and the more you back off on that bolt, try moving the pump forward.
