What damage can overage oil in the engine cause.
JA: When was your last oil change?
Customer: one month ago
JA: What is the model/year of your Cadillac?
Customer: srx/2010
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes I have tried to release the oil, however the oil bolt seem frozen and I refuse to add more preasure to the bolt fearing to damage the oil pan
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

this depends on how much the engine is over filled.
A quart usually will not hurt anything, as the oil is always moving from the Oil Pump thru the engine
2 or 3 quarts can be a little more of an issue, which can cause undue internal pressure on the Seals & "maybe" cavitation
4 or 5 quarts, then damage "can occur"
Be sure the vehicle is on level ground & check the oil level
IF way over full, you can get a tube into the Oil Dip Stick Tube & using a turkey baster or a suction device suck oil out
Otherwise you may want to take vehicle to a Shop or someone that changes Oil & have them drain it
