Bought a crate motor for 2001 Cadillac DeVille. Think it is

Customer Question

Bought a crate motor for 2001 Cadillac DeVille. Think it is a 1999. Cam and crank sensor connectors are not the same. What if I got a engine harness and ecm for a 99 would I be able to make it work for a 2001?

Hi John,

Too many differences.

Just get the correct engine.

Bummer already have it in the car and paid a lot of money for the engine. When I bought it the guy wasn't sure of the year and it looked exactly like my other one. Thanks

Hi John,

Sorry for the bad news.

I have seen this many times with late model vehicles.

Engines and transmissions are easier swaps if they are from the same year.

Hope this helps you.

Kind regards

Gary
