Was the A/C working before you added freon to the system?
So, I am thinking that the freon charge is to high and the high pressure cut off switch on the has cut power to the compressor. Do you have access to professional A/C pressure gauges? If so I can walk you through the process of getting the correct amount of Freon in the system.
Looks like you have done some research on this issue. There were many of these cars where the torque convertor is the culprit, but before you get to this conclusion I would try a few cheaper things.
I don't think the coils would be an issue. I can certainly send you diagnosis charts on how to check the the coils.
