hello, I want to replace a missing right rear door lock knob on a 2007 Cadillac CTS , thanks for listening
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: have not started yet, got the tool to remove door panel, have the part, and you for assistance,
JA: Does the engine turn over? How old is the battery?
Customer: car runs very well, recent battery
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: does the panel need to come off to install new knob ?

No the Door Panel does not have to come off to replace the Lock Knob on the top of the Door Panel.........if that is what you are referring to....and as long as the Rod id still in place.
The Knob has a small pry out tab
Carefully pry out the tab a little bit
Make sure the Door is UNLOCKED
Place the Knob over the Rod & carefully push down to set the knob
Then push the tab in to lock the Knob to the Rod
