I have a 2004 Cadillac Deville DTS and the passenger door window suddenly opened "dropped down" without touching the switch. I was able to get the window to close 95%. Is it necessary to remove the door panel and if so what is the proceedure?

Nothing, my wife was driving the car yesterday when she heard sounds from the door , then the window opened slightly, when she attempted to close the window it then opened all the way by itself.
Perhaps, the window fell off the track or regulator. Here are the instructions for removing the door panel, regulator and motor, click here. Look to see what happened once you get access to the window so you can look. Also, look for anything broken. I will try to find a diagram of that door and window.
OK Cadillac Man, what is the estimated time to inspect (remove and replace) the door panel?
Well, the labor time for replacing the Front Door Module Assembly is 1.6 hours and that should include removing and replacing the door panel.
Window Regulator Motor replacement is 0.8 hours, so I would say somewhere between the 2. Say 1.3 hours.
