My traction control light stays on after starting car. Ran codes as follows.ABS B1228-History ABS B1298-History IPM B0429-current IRC U1016-HistoryPCM P0443 current PCM U1040-History. Any idea about problem?
Optional Information: Year : 2001 Make : Cadillac
What model cadillac? Thanks.
deville base model
Are you 100% sure those are the abs codes? Could you go double check? Thanks.
Sorry. My bad. Should be ABS C1228-history and ABS C1298-history
C1228 means right rear wheel speed sensor has excessive variation and c1298 often means the abs module has failed. I would start by checking power/grounds at abs module, make sure data wire is good and if so replace abs module. You can get a used one from www.car-parts.com to save money and if C1228 code still comes back replace wheel speed sensor. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.
I just had the abs replaced (for the second time) with a used one that was supposed to be an exact match .
Were all 2001 devilles equiped with traction control or was it an option. I thought maybe the replacement abs may have been from a donor car that was not eguiped with traction control
They all have traction, were u getting same codes before replacing?
Before getting abs replaced first time I had codes c1214 and 1248. AFter first replacement these codes were gone but I was getting two messages on my driver information center to "service stability sys" and "replace brake pads".After abs replacement number two the messages were gone but the traction control light stayed on and the codes I mentioned in my original question are present
Considering codes completely changed from what you had I would try another brake module, salvage yard should be willing to swap it out with another one for free.
