i have 2003 cts. error codes po140,141,160,161,335,341,496,856. my mechanic wanted to start experimenting with replacing sensors, starting with crank and cam then o2. i think i can do this myself. he was gon to charge a small fortune to start experimenting.
also, i am receivign stabilitylight, codes:C1238,1298,1301,1278,1277,1281,1287. stabilty warning comes on screen constantly regardless of driving conditions
Year : 2003
Make : Cadillac
Model : CTS
Engine : 3.6
nothing yet. just go error codes. i was going to start with crank and cam sensors. engine suddenly dies, engine wont start right away
HelloCustomer Welcome to justanswer!
If you clear the codes which ones come back right away?
i will check on that. give me a minute to do this
Ok, sounds good.
i cleared codes and no error codes return.....engine starts normally
Ok, see what comes back then replace what ever is relevant to the codes. Its very hard to tell which ones are true at this point.
this problem does reoccur, does that mean a intermittent problem or a sensor getting ready to go out?
YOu have to see how many come back. If they all come back then replace the cam, crank and o2 sensors. If they still come back after that you have a bad computer.
also regarding stability errors on video screen on dash....the code reader tells us nothing on that...what do you suggest
That has to be handled separately. I would suggest resetting those codes and see whats back. That one really should be handled by a GM dealer as it requires a lot of hands on testing.
