P0340 CMP Sensor Circuit Malfunction - With Automatic Transmission

Possible CausesSetting Conditions
  • CMP sensor connector is d
  • amaged (check pins for damage, and for moisture)
  • CMP sensor signal circuit is open, shorted to ground or shorted to voltage
  • CMP sensor reference (5v) circuit is open between sensor and PCM
  • CMP sensor low reference (ground) circuit is open
  • CMP sensor is damaged or it failed (check the reluctor wheel)
  • PCM has failed

Not being sure how this worked I was very brief on the question. I pulled the code with my ODB II reader and the full text is: "Camshaft Position A - Bank 1 Circuit Malfunction". Is that consistent with your recommended soltuion above?

Is there a part number for this or do I just ask for the CMP sensor?
