I have a 2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV. The rear hatch and window

Resolved Question:

I have a 2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV. The rear hatch and window will not unlock. It doesnt appear to be a fuse. Is there a way to manually unlock?

Welcome. This is likely a fault with the rear lock actuator. The way to get at it is to remove the trim from the inside. This will be tough, and there are 2 trim pins around the latch for the glass latch, but you can get it open and change out what is needed.

The liftgate wont open either though.

I know, I gathered that from the first post, so you will need to climb in through a back door and get the trim off with the door closed.

  • Open the liftgate window.
  • Remove the push pin retainers from the garnish molding.
  • Pry gently with a thin-bladed tool in order to release the retaining clips.

  • Slide the trim panel upward to disengage mounting hooks.
  • Remove the trim panel from the liftgate.

There apparently is no way to manually unlock the window or hatch without leaving the panels off. What a crappy design. This car needs a manual unlock

Correct, however, the only time you would need the manual unlock is when there is an issue such as this.
