My former employer paid for my passport as my job required

This answer was rated:

My former employer paid for my passport as my job required I had a passport. I have left that job and my former employer is demanding my passport back, am I supposed to return it? He paid for it cause the job required it but it was issued to me by the government so I see no need to give it back.
Hello and welcome to JustAnswer

I'm sorry to hear about your situation and hope I can help.

My goal is to provide you with excellent service today.

No, you are under no obligation to return the passport to your former employer.

It is your passport, issued by the Government, and only belongs to you regardless of who paid for it, including your former employer.

I hope the above information is helpful.

Please let me know if you have any clarifying questions as I want to ensure that you are completely satisfied with my service.

If not, please remember to rate my answer positively so I get paid for my work.

Thanks and best of luck!
