i am a california employer. Is there anything preventing me from asking an exempt employee to work specific hours...9 to 5pm?

Good afternoon,

I'm sorry to hear of the confusion.

There is nothing to prohibit you, as the employer of a salaried exempt employee, from demanding that the employee work a set schedule. And, you are not limited to having them work an 8 hour shift either. You may require them to work as long as you wish.
