Resolved Question:

Can a bill collector call your job to talk to you about an outstanding bill? Isn't there a law that says they can call your home between the hours of 9am - 5pm?

The state Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act states that a debt collector cannot contact you at work if they know or have reason to know that you cannot accept personal calls at work.

You can inform the bill collector that you cannot receive personal calls at work and the bill collector would be obligated not to contact you at work.

Also, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act states that bill collectors can only contact you between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9 p.m.
