Question

What happened to Bell Industries out of Eugene OR. ?

Sent to General Experts September 06, 2007 9:13 p.m.

They used to be located at 3390 W. 11th Ave. in Eugene OR. I am in need of replacement parts from their saw & machine division and the phone # of XXX-XXX-XXXX is not active. (This use to be their phone #.) I need part # D180 for a chainsaw sharpening machine that was purchased in the early 60's. If they are no longer in business I would like to know that and if they were bought out by another company I would like that info as well to contact them for parts. Thank you so much. What details do you need?

Optional Information:
Subject: Bell Industries

Already Tried:

Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy);

Sorry but Bell Industries went out of business a long time ago. Back in the late 50's and early 60's Bell Industries was part of Good ole Ma Bell. They had small plants like this one left over from WWII, and Korea, where they had manufactured things for the war effort. During, and just after the Korean conflict, many were set up to feed the appitite of Americans for the luxuries in life. They continued making things for the home and office for a few years untill the war boom ended in the early 60's.

Most of the plants were shut down and sold as warehouses. Or just sold for the property value.

The building now houses a Sherwin Williams paint store, Mattress Land Inc., and Zany Zoo Pets, along with a small office of some type.

Finding replacement parts for your saw sharpener is not going to be easy. The only places that will have these are private citizens that got them from their parents, grandparents, a swap meet, or garage sale.
