I had a crying fit at work on Friday and now I am embarrassed to go back? I have been with this company for five years and never have I shed one tear. My boss was upset with me and I cried. My boss is consistently upset with me but for some strange reason, Friday, I cried. I cried in front of everyone because my boss had me trapped in my seat by the door. Should I go back? If so how can I explain my odd behavior to others when I cannot even explain it to my self? Please advise and thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy),

I'm sorry you've been upset at work. As a business owner and employer I'd suggest you go back to work. There is nothing wrong with outwardly expressing emotions and having been upset on several occasions it's understandable that all of the feelings you'd built inside would have finally come forth. This is by no means "odd" behavior. Better a tear or two than a bout of rage.

When you go into work hon, approach your boss and apologize for your teary outburst and let he/she know that you will try harder to do a better job. Right or wring, tell your boss that you understand what he/she was telling you and that you have taken his words to heart and will use them in your job to better yourself and your work practices. Be the bigger person and please, don't be afraid to be yourself, ever. Sometimes we have to give to receive and this may be one of those times.

I sense you are more embarassed than anything and that's perfectly ok but..in order to redeem your dignity you must allow yourself to accept what your boss told you and let him know, you understand. That will give you a sense of relief and your boss a sense that he got through to you. Which..will make working together a much happier enviornment.

If you need anything further..please ask.

~Dee
