Hi LazyD,
One of the first things I would suggest you do is to go to the site I am going to give you for the Antique Roadshow. Their 2007 schedule is listed. The appraisers are experts in every area of antiques and if you can get to one in an area close to you that would be your best and first option aside from Christies or Sotherby's.
You have to also understand that most legitimate appraisers are not going to give you an appraisal for nothing so be prepared to pay a fee if necessary even if you find one close to you. Appraising online, even without a fee is will be an approximate and not an actual without the appraiser seeing the piece in person so you are doing the right thing in wanting to find someone near you. I am also including a link to the appraiser in your area that you can contact for a personal appraisal.
Good luck and the best to you in with your wonderful pieces!
