As a college graduate in his late thirties, how can I improve my prospects
for getting accepted into a graduate program when my undergraduate
performance was seriously lacking?

I am assuming that you were in your twenties when in college, so if my math is correct, you would be in your 90's. this does not compute ;0.

If that is the case though, and even if it is not, I would strongly suggest you look into home study and internet courses, so that you are on an even playing field with fellow students. Then get a home based business to suppliment your income and get the tax advantages of a home based business and a student.

I didn't graduate colletge in the 1930's, I'm a college graduate
and I'm in my late thirties. Anyway, when I went to school I was
rather immature and didn't take the process very seriously and
instead looked at it as party time. My grades were pretty bad. I
think my final gpa was around 2.25. I've experienced a great
deal of life since then surviving 2 brain tumors at the ages of 20
and 29, enjoying a great deal of career success, and having
twins. Unfortunately the tumors left me permanently disabled
so I am unable to do the job that I did so well at. There is
nothing I would like more than to go back to school and earn a
masters degree, something I'm confident I could do very well at.
Unfortunately, I don't know how I could get accepted to any
programs with such a poor undergraduate record.
