How send a message Tom Ridge - illegal immigrant killed son

Sent to General Experts February 04 01:15 AM

I would like to send a message to Tom Ridge, and any other government officials regarding the death of my son by illegal immigrants driving the wrong way on a one way highway. He was only 21. He was on his way home to celebrate my husband's birthday. My attorney and insurance agency cannot find one of the owners of the van. The driver (and part owner of the van) is in jail and awaiting a second hearing. However the other owner of the van cannot be found and I would like to know what can be done.

I would also like to know why the driver can only get a maximum of 7 years for killing my son due to his negligence.

himesy,

First, I am very sorry for your loss. As a parent I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through.

I applaud you for your effort to find justice for your son, and prevent this from happening again.

I've researched and found contact information for several agencies that you may want to contact, including the Department of Homeland Security (Tom Ridge's group), the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), the White House (President Bush), and the Department of Justice (DOJ - Attorney General). That information follows at the bottom of this post.

As for why the driver only got 7 years, that question can only be answered by the legislators and judges who set sentincing guidelines and the District Attorneys if a Plea Agreement was used.

If you need any additional contact information for anyone else, just reply and I'll be happy to provide anything I can find. I wish you all the best in your persuit.

himesy, 5 years does stink! And we hear about it all the time, people who kill serving only a few years or just probation.   I support your fight for stiffer penalties, and change in the immigration system which is terribly flawed.

I've looked up your state and federal representatives (I believe these are your representatives, but districts change and boundry lines can be odd) It wouldn't hurt to include them in your efforts.

I wish you the best, please feel free to come back here and let us know how it's going.
