Santo Domingo/ expect problems?

hi, traveling to Santo Domingo with the family in July 04. 1 of my children has a different last name than me. and im not traveling with his father that is named on his birth cert.(note that i have residential custody) will i have a problem entering the DR or returning to the US? if so what should i do? please answer asap, much appreciated!!
