I accepted a settlement offer from the plaintiff. I have signed

This answer was rated:

I accepted a settlement offer from the plaintiff. I have signed the papers and thought that they had signed them, and therefore, wired the agreed upon amount into their account. Since they didn't sign the settlement offer yet, can they just keep the money and not sign? If they don't sign the agreement, can I get my money back?

Thank you for your question.

If they did not sign as yet, they legally cannot keep the funds as those funds were contingent upon their signature. So no, they cannot just keep the money. They have to return it, or you can pursue them for 'breach of contract' or even for 'conversion' (theft) of your assets.

Good luck.
