Do you need a registered agent to Renew your LLC Legal zoom

Resolved Question:

Do you need a registered agent to Renew your LLC? Legal zoom tells me I need it. Can't I renew my LLC by filling out the forms my self?

You need a registered agent and office within the state where the LLC is formed or qualified to do business. That agent and office could be you if you have an address in the state.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
So as the owner of the LLC I can be the registered agent? Is there obligations I need to do as the registered agent? Why would legal zoom ask me to be my registered agent?
Expert:  Loren replied 6 years ago.
Yes, the owner can be the agent. The agent's main responsibility is to accept service for the LLC. Legal Zoom wants to be your registered agent because they can charge you an annual fee for the service.
