can i run a website as a business in the state of california with a similar name to an already established business? For example, if the established business and web site is called "ABC Inc." and i have a website and want to run the business as "ABC 123 Inc.". Is this possible?

Yes you can within certain limits. The Secretary of State website will let you know if the name is XXXXX XXXXX if you can incorporate under that name. Similar names are XXXXX XXXXX unusual. Your best option is to incorporate as an LLC. It is easier cheaper and quicker. Here is the website
